Much of the exhibit had little resonance for me because it was in Dutch and dealt with the experience of those colonized by the Dutch. One film though, really spoke to me. This was a documentary about the primates: orangutans, humans, others, captured and imprisoned. Within the exhibit one wall held this bold call to resist. The visitor book held many heartfelt endorsements: &#8222;Free Palestine!&#8220;, a lengthy piece about the war in Ukraine. What was unclear to me, however, was how the calls for peace and love from the guest book, the call to &#8222;Refuse. Resist&#8220; translates into action. The Netherlands continues to ship arms. Mark Rutte, \u00a0longest-serving prime minister in Dutch history, congratulates Donald Trump as being the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nato.int\/en\/news-and-events\/events\/transcripts\/2026\/06\/25\/atlantic-council-front-page-conversation-with-nato-secretary-general-mark-rutte\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leader of the &#8222;free world&#8220;<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.
